Land’s End to John O’Groats

1000 Miles by bicycle in ten days

25th May - 3rd June 2006

Why take on such a ride in such a short space of time?

The cycle ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats is always there posing the challenge, appealing to that little bit of insanity inside that convinces us that some things seem like a really good idea. Partly, it’s a bit like mountains for mountaineers. It is the classic challenge completed by hundreds of people every year, cyclists, walkers, runners, and many others of all abilities. Each journey a deeply personal challenge no matter how it is completed and it what time. My own challenge is to complete the 1000 mile ride in ten days, simply because it is there to be done and like many others who take up the challenge, to raise money for a chosen charity through sponsorship. That charity is Cancer Research UK.

The Ride:

The Bike:

The bike I shall be riding is a Pinarello F4:13FP hand built carbon fibre frame with Campagnolo Chorus group set, Campagnolo Eurus wheels and Continental GP4000 tyres.

Backup:

Jeanette, my wife and Bob, Janet Lees and Hannah Warwicker, will provide essential backup on the road.

Sponsor me:

If you wish to sponsor me through this website, you can do so by sending a cheque made out to Cancer Research UK to Industrial Mission in South Yorkshire, Cemetery Road Baptist Church, Napier Street, Sheffield, S11 8HA
